As occupational therapy faculty, she pulled two textbooks; I Googled. It seems the PhD's writing the books decided on the apostrophe as correct. I am delighted to have found your blog with the best - and most logical! - explanation of why Parkinson does not merit the possessive recognition. Hmm.. If I were to argue a dissertation around the abuse of the apostrophe, would my readers applaud or condemn me... I thought I should watch so I could see what a) I might have to contend with, & b) how his wife supported him. I Googled to see if he did have it & your blog? came up. Your comparison of the fight is brilliant. My other half is battling the disease & gets mad & pushes himself to soldier on. Everything we've heard about says he needs to push himself & that he does. Thanks for sharing your experience & for appreciating the efforts of us supporters. Here's praying for a cure in our lifetimes & God bless you & your wife as you 2 never give up together!! My dad had PD and now both I and my cousin from the same side of family have been diagnosed in our 50's. After supporting each other, we decided our personal sharing might help others. So we recently started a blog www.parkinsonscousinsshare.blogspot.com. Could we share your post on our blog with proper credits or reference it and add a link? Thank you SO much for your post. I will be checking out more tomorrow. It actually came from The 14th-century Italian historian Dominici de Gravina who wrote, in his Chronicon de rebus in Apulia gestis, "Solamen miseris socios habuisse doloris," which translates to; "It is a comfort to the unfortunate to have had companions in woe."

The Latin hexameter phrase would later emerge from the mouth of Mephistopheles in Scene 5 of Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus.

Erroneously, English naturalist and botanist John Ray (1627–1705) is credited with the quotation, "Misery loves company," as well as another well-worn phrase, "Blood is thicker than water."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15867866901255210022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1026966222179181004.post-28921620029377316252015-12-16T11:55:09.371-08:002015-12-16T11:55:09.371-08:00A great post Bob. But I am beginning to find ways to work around it. Speaking about it (like here), Meditation. Learning to sit with it and not fight or struggle. Its part of me, it needs kind attention along with the rest of me. A little of 'yes, today is awful - moving towards the pain and now reliably getting a result - peace of mind.
